Stunning Arts & Crafts Necklace, early 20th Century. Crafted in Sterling Silver with Rose Diamonds, Sapphires and Pearls, set in sterling silver and highlighted with dark Blue enamel.

Art Nouveau influences in this Arts& Crafts Period necklace. Can be worn as a Brooch or Necklace. Wonderful example of early 20th Century Jewelry.

An American Arts & Crafts Period Moonstone and Gold Necklace, by Edward Oakes, of The Oakes Studio circa 1935. The graduated course of oval moonstones in raised bezel frames, alternating with connector links of shell and scroll motifs, decorated to the fore by a moonstone pendant drop, mounted in 18k gold, length 16 1/2 ins 


In 1923, Edward Oakes was awared a Medal at the Society of Arts and Crafts of Boston.  Oakes was proud when The Metropolitan Museum of Art acquired a pendant of his for its permanent collection  Edith Alpers stated that this was American Arts & Crafts Period Moonstone and Gold Necklace, by Edward Oakes

Jugendstil, an artistic style that arose in Germany about the mid-1890s and continued through the first decade of the 20th century, deriving its name from the Munich magazine Die Jugend (“Youth”), which featured Art Nouveau designs. Two phases can be discerned in Jugendstil: an early one, before 1900, that is mainly floral in character, rooted in English Art Nouveau and Japanese applied arts and prints; and a later, more abstract phase, growing out of the Viennese work of the Belgian-born architect and designer Henry van de Velde Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) Silver brooch
